Associate Justice Kennedy graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University and the London School of Economics, and with an LL.B. from Harvard Law School. President Ronald Reagan nominated him for the Supreme Court in 1987. Prior to his appointment to the nation's highest court, Kennedy, a California native, served in the California Army National Guard in 1961; practiced law in San Francisco 1961–1963 as an associate at the firm now known as Thelen Reid, & Priest LLP, as well as in Sacramento 1963–1975; taught at McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific; and served 12 years on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Golden Gate BridgeOur November 6, 2003 "Legends of the Law" event honored Judge Thelton E. Henderson at the Westin St. Francis in Union Square with over 400 in attendance from the legal community.

The successful event included Master of Ceremonies Cristina C. Arguedas, Esq. and Keynote Speaker Honorable Marilyn Hall Patel. Speakers included Harry B. Bremond, Esq.; Honorable William J. Cahill (Ret.); Professor William Russell Ellis; Honorable Martin J. Jenkins; Professor Brian K. Landsberg; and Raymond C. Marshall, Esq.

In its inaugural event in 2002, The Lawyers' Club of San Francisco honored Jim Brosnahan for his many activities devoted to further the civil rights of those who had no other representation available. Speakers at this event included Justice Thelton Henderson, Justice William Alsup, John Keker, and Joe Cotchett.
