Jacques Roger Welden September 6, 1927 to April 24, 2007 Resident of Kensington Descendent of pioneer Claypool, Cockrill, Jackson, and Welden families, and a member of the Society of California Pioneers, died April 24, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jacquelen (Jacci); children, Kathryn Jean Jackson, David Roger Welden, Bruce Arthur Welden, Barbara Denise (Mrs. William Conley); grandchildren, Rebecca (Mrs. Jon Money), Brian and Bill Jackson, Elizabeth and Michael Welden, Terese and Sarah Conley, and Jennifer Welden; and four great grandchildren; and godsons, Robert Matthews, Brad Donohue and Marc Villa. He is also survived by his brother, David Richard Welden, many loving nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Barbara Merrill. He was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the class of 1949 at U.C. Berkeley, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received his J.S.D. at San Francisco Law School, and was admitted to the Bar in 1955. He was president of the Barristers' Club of the San Francisco Bar Association; president of the Lawyers Club of San Francisco; a founding partner of Corbett, Welden and Kane of San Francisco; and a partner of Welden & Welden in Kensington. He is a past chairman of the board of trustees and past moderator of the church council of the Arlington Community Church; past president of Friends of the Kensington Library, Kensington Improvement Club, Codornices Club of Berkeley, and a member of the Cogers Club of San Francisco. He was a key man of the San Francisco Jaycees, a past chairman of the Republican County Central Committee of Contra Costa County, former State Inheritance Tax Referee, Judicial Arbitrator, a past member of Berkeley Rotary and the Merchant's Exchange Club of San Francisco. He and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. Memorial services at Arlington Community Church, 52 Arlington Ave., Kensington, on Saturday, May 12, 2007, 11 a.m. |
