Besides team involvement, we offer numerous opportunities for networking such as our “Night at the Ballpark” event, “Cocktails at Six” dinner and program, and our “Conversation with a Judge” informal gathering. At our Annual Retreat, we spend a half day hosting speakers ranging from prominent politicians to movers and shakers in the legal community. We have even welcomed lawyers turned authors of legal thrillers and sponsored their book signings.

The Club mentors attorneys at various levels. For a new Bar member, the Club offers the Stepping into the Reality program which provides a “how-to” program providing the nuts and bolts of how to practice law. Remember—law school didn’t teach you that! Judges speak and practitioners offer sage wisdom and advice. Likewise, the experienced attorney can seek advice and referral from another Club member. Our Scholarship Fund Foundation annually supports two second year law students from two different area law schools on a revolving basis.

Community outreach remains important to the Club. As part of the annual Law Day celebration, member outreach includes presenting speakers at a local high school and/or college. In the past, we have also sponsored courthouse tours. As the Christmas holidays approach, The Club asks its membership, law firms, and the legal community, generally, to clean out their closets and gather up suits for donation to various shelters in San Francisco. Last year, The Club proudly donated to Walden House, a rehabilitation facility dedicated to helping alcoholics and drug abusers transition into the workforce.

Our Annual Supreme Court Luncheon is our headline event each year. We have the honor of hosting the distinguished California Supreme Court at this event each year. Our guest speakers provide an objective narration into an aspect of the law and a thought provoking glimpse into a topic of timely interest.

The Club has its own Inn of Court. If you join The Lawyers’ Club Inn, you automatically become a member of the Club. The Inn presents monthly programs comprised of lawyers and judges teaching an aspect of the law through creative skits, games and/or discussion. A dinner at a local restaurant tops off the evening. Inn members receive continuing legal education credits for each program attended.

What can The Lawyers’ Club provide for you? Wonderful professional and personal friendships, mentoring and advice (whether you are “green” or “seasoned”), referrals, a wide variety of continuing legal education courses, and a feeling of satisfaction for contribution and involvement in the Bay Area legal community.

I am testament to the benefits gained from active involvement. In 1996, I ventured out on my own with my solo jury consulting business. With the support of The Lawyers’ Club, I have a thriving business.
